| Pastor Rob Richards was born in 1963
and raised in the small Northern California city of Fairfield. His
father was a U.S. Air Force flight engineer, stationed at Travis AFB
for most of his career, and his mother was a full time mom and part
time tax preparer. His parents met while his dad was stationed in
Japan. He did not grow up in a christian home, but did find out years
later that his mom's biggest rule in the house is also known as the
"Golden Rule". He can still hear his mom urging him to "treat
others like you want to be treated".
After getting a B.S. degree
in Electrical Engineering, Rob finally settled in San Diego in 1991.
It was there that he met the love of his life and the most beautiful
woman in the world, Wendi. They have been married for 12 years and
have two beautiful daughters, Hannah age 4 1/2 and Ava, 2
(as of February 2007).
In the summer of 1997, Rob first heard the call into full time ministry. For the
next 8 years he served at Horizon Christian Fellowship San Diego, under the
leadership of his pastor, Mike MacIntosh. Rob served for three years as a 6th
grade Bible and science teacher at Horizon Elementary School and then for five
years as the Family Ministries Pastor at Horizon San Diego.
Rob has a passion for the Word and
a burden for families. He loves to teach and preach from the Word
of God and he has a true shepherds heart. His hope is to be used
by the Lord in leading many into the Kingdom of God and seeing them
discipled in the Lord. As the Lord revealed His will for him to
plant a church in Carmel Valley, Rob has stepped out in obedience.
